  • 1 cup rajma
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • onion (chopped)
  • tomato (puree)
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 ginger (grated)
  • 2-3 green chilies (chopped)
  • 1 tsp of red chili powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste


  • Soak the rajma overnight. Boil the rajma till 5-6 whistles.
  • In another pan heat oil and add the cumin seeds, after they start changing color, add the onions. cook till it gets a golden brown texture, add the ginger and green chilies. Fry for 2-3 mins.
  • Then add the tomato puree, coriander powder, red chili powder, and turmeric powder. Mix well and cook for another 3-4 mins.
  • Add the cooked rajma along with the water used to cook it. Mix well and cook for 5 mins.
  • When the gravy starts getting thick, add the chaat masala and salt according to the taste. Mix well and cook for another 2 mins.
  • Serve warm with rice and yogurt.
